Ever since Smallville started, comic books like myself have been anxious to know how Clark Kent will adopt the persona of Superman in the future, as well as fix some of the recurring problems when he does.
Currently in his double identity as the black trenchcoat role as the Blur, we know that his journey is near its end. Season 10 has apparently been confirmed, but will very likely be the last season for show. This means Smallville has basically a year and a half to solve some things that have pestered comic book fans.
Several people (including future DC characters) have seen Clark use his powers AND know his name.
Dr. Emil Hamilton, a recurring character this season as well as the mainstream comics would be a classic example. He has helped Superman with scientific advisory and recently became the supervillain Ruin. In the show, Hamilton is a frequent contact of Clark, knows of his powers and alien heritage and is aware of his double identity as the Blur. This means that should Hamilton decide follow the same path of life his comic book form took, he has a very crucial advantage against Superman. Did I mention his intentions in the comics already involved hurting Clark Kent's loved ones?
Lois Lane (along with others) will not be fooled by a pair of glasses that Clark Kent and Superman are two different people
Firstly, Lois Lane has known Clark Kent for YEARS since her first appearance in Season 4. A pair of glasses is not going to change how she has viewed someone she will be working with for further years in the future. Secondly, Erica Durance's performance of Lois Lane has proven she is not an idiot. She is a feisty reporter who knows when something's up and follows through on her supsicions until they're proven otherwise.
Lois has even already had an episode (Idol) where she suspected Clark was the Blur and believed it to be whole-heartedly true. The only thing that convinced her was hearing the Blur's voice on a telephone while Clark was standing right next to her.
The episode Hex would be another fine example. Lois was able to know for the second half of the episode just from the look of Clark's face that he had kissed Zatanna. Don't you think the burden of letting her know about a double life would not be something she would see through, ESPECIALLY with nothing but a pair of glasses to hide it?
What will likely happen for the show is that for the sake of a new take to the Superman and not making Lois look blind, she will likely know Clark's secret but keep it from the rest of the world. Lois is a human being first and a reporter second (however close a tie the two may be). She has even told Clark in "Idol" that she would kep his secret if he confessed it.
Lex Luthor must return to life...somehow
From the moment the big BOOM happened in Requiem where Lex Luthor was thrown to that big jail cell underground, fans knew they had one problem solved but another created. Lex no longer had knowledge of Clark's secret (on account of his brain cells being dust in the wind), but he was...you know...DEAD!
Thankfully it was the Smallville TV Movie Absolute Justice that put our fears to rest. After Doctor Fate's ability of seeing the future showed a very much alive and evil Lex being defeated by Superman, we realized Smallville had not forgotten about his future arch-nemesis. But how exactly are they intending to do this?
The most popular theory has been that the show will adapt Lex's famous cloning story arc into use. In the comics, Lex Luthor put his brain inside of a clone's body when attempting to fake his own death and escape cancer. The more likely explanation however will likely be that Lex will be simply be cloned to have him return to life, as well as no longer know who Clark Kent is.
